The Lenox Affordable Housing Trust accepts a payment in lieu of a unit of affordable housing from BBL Housing. The Element Hotel by Marriott Group on Route 7/20 is the first phase of a project that will include 30 market rate rental housing units, which triggers the Lenox inclusionary zoning bylaw requiring one unit of affordable housing for each 16 units of market rate housing constructed. As former Chairwoman of the Trust, I negotiated the payment of $475,000 with BBL Housing representatives. That check was presented to the Lenox Affordable Housing Trust at the groundbreaking on August 27, 2024.
